Sun through clouds. This one is from a photograph I took a while back, and I started drawing it one evening when I had left it too late to draw comfortably outside, and returned to it a few times during other such evenings. It is far from done, but I think I’m going to make a painting of the same image.

I thought the dicentra (bleeding hearts) in my yard had all been pulled up by accident, and I was sad because they had really been beginning to thrive and spread. Their roots must have still been there, because they have come back abundantly. Since I drew this, they’ve begun blooming.

Spiderweb. I came away from this with a deep appreciation of this kind of web. After looking up different forms of spiderweb, I think it is called a tent web, but I’m not entirely sure. They are strung in many corners of our deck, but I never see the spiders in them.
